Caio Borralho Hopes Become Champ on the Same Day as Fighting Nerds Teammate

Caio Borralho recently revealed an ambitious goal The Fighting Nerds team hopes to achieve.

Borralho wants to become a UFC champion on the same card as his teammate, Jean Silva. Like many of the Fighting Nerds members, Borralho and Silva have rapidly risen to contender status behind a combination of elite performances and fan appeal.

Borralho is now set to face No.1 contender Nassourdine Imavov in enemy territory at UFC Paris at the Accor Arena in France on Sept. 6. Meanwhile, Silva headlines Noche UFC a week later on Sept. 13 against the last featherweight title challenger, Diego Lopes, at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Borralho believes a win in each of their respective outings puts them up for immediate title contention. According to “The Natural,” the UFC realizes the potential drawing power in both of them and plans to put them on the same card to fight for their respective titles.

Borralho: ‘The UFC Knows We Can Sell’

“To be honest with you, I think me and Jean Silva are gonna have the belt on the same day,” Borralho told MMAjunkie.com. T”hat’s what we’re planning. I have a main event on Sept. 6; he has a No.1 contender fight, main event on September 13, one week after. So I think after we both win our fights, we’re gonna go for the belt. I think the UFC knows we can sell, that’s where the money is. I think they’re planning to put both of us to win the belt on the same day. It will be massive.”

Borralho is undefeated since 2015 with seven credible UFC wins to his name, the most notable being a stoppage win over Jared Cannonier in his last outing. Meanwhile, Imavov is riding a four-fight winning streak topped off by a finish over former champ Israel Adesanya

Silva is undefeated since 2018 and has racked up five straight finishes since his UFC debut last year. Meanwhile, Lopes was riding a five-fight winning streak before suffering a unanimous decision loss in a bid for the vacant title against Alexander Volkanovski this past April.
